Humanizing Your Messenger Bot
While you want to make it very clear to Facebook users that you are using an automated Facebook Messenger Bot. You still want to make the experience as ‘humanized’ as possible so that it isn’t strange, awkward or annoying to users.
Think about it… no one likes those automated phone calls. Messenger is super personal. Being allowed into someone’s messenger box is a huge deal so it’s important to respect that and try to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.
With that in mind, here are a few ways you can humanize the Messenger Bot experience:
1. Show Your Personality.
Your Messenger Bot should sound like you. Remember that trust is the single most important factor when it comes to building relationships. If your Bot sounds really off-brand, that’s going to take the Facebook user off guard and result in trust barriers going up. This is especially true if it’s their first experience with a Messenger Bot. Program your Bot to speak as if it were you messaging directly.
2. Use Emojis and Gifs.
That’s what Facebook messenger is for, right? J
Again, you really want the conversation to flow naturally as if it were with a person, specifically, if it were with you. Emoji’s and GIFs are light, fun and really do add personality that will encourage users to interact with your Facebook Bot.
3. Time Delays.
Depending on the third-party Messenger Bot tool you are using, you can incorporate time delays between messages that show the user you are ‘typing’ as it would if you were manually sending a message.
This is such a small feature but it makes a huge difference. Adding that few second delay really does provide a conversational feel. When incorporated with the personalization of steps 1 and 2, it’s very easy for people to forget they are chatting with a Messenger Bot and not with you despite you being upfront about using a Messenger Bot.
Messenger Bots are often frowned upon because you can’t replicate or automate an actual human being. It’s very true but there are a huge number of benefits that also have to be considered. For example.
- You can respond quickly helping your Facebook Page Response Time which is shown publically.
- You can help your customers quickly which has a positive impact on engagement and ultimately, conversion rates.
- It saves you an enormous amount of time because you don’t have to respond to every request immediately.Increases your subscriber base extremely quickly with impressive open rates of up to 100%.
It’s never the tool that’s the problem. It’s always the HOW the tool is implemented. Messenger Bots can add tremendous value for Facebook users visiting your page as well as you, as the business owner.
Consider the customer journey and provide a helpful, transparent and humanized experience and your Messenger Bot can serve you well.
